Biodiverse Lightweight Green Roof System

Minimum order 10m2

This system includes 4 layers, a depth of 135mm and a weight of 121.2 kg/m2:

  • Biodiverse Sedum & Herb Blanket – 40mm
  • Roof Garden Substrate – 70mm
  • Drainage Type 20R – 20mm
  • Protective Cover – 10mm
  • Root Barrier Foil – Optional

The build-up of this traditional green roof system creates a beautifully sustainable green roof.  The 135mm roof garden substrate layer is developed in accordance with FLL guidelines and is nutrient-rich, ensuring healthy, robust sedum plants. Grown with a mix of 30 different types of herbs and 12 species of hardy succulents, each has been chosen over many years of growing experience by our growers, for their ability to absorb and retain water, and thrive in adverse weather conditions. The plants are grown on a substrate consisting of lava, pumice, and compost. The sedum blankets in this system provide at least 95% plant coverage, ensuring an instant green roof. The drainage sheet is made from recycled polyethene (HDPE) and the top of the sheet is covered with a fleece filter; this protective fleece is made from recycled fibres.

If you are creating a gravel border around the roof edges, skylights, lanterns or drainage areas, it is important to add an additional drainage layer to sit beneath the gravel.

How to maintain your Sedum Green Roof System

Maintenance

The (minimum) maintenance depends on the build-up of the system; we recommend you fertilise twice a year with a long-acting fertiliser.
