Drainage – Lightweight & Super Lightweight Systems

The drainage layer has an important role to play in the total system structure of a green roof. It stores water and allows excess water to drain away. During dry periods, the stored water can be reabsorbed by the vegetation layer above and the drainage contributes to the aeration of the plant roots.

Please note when using a gravel border, extra drainage is required to sit beneath the gravel.
